Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders has compared Jurgen Klopp's influence at the club to that of Johan Cruyff at Barcelona.
Klopp has been praised by many for restoring the winning mentality and positive atmosphere at the club from Anfield.

They won the Champions League last season as they fought to the end two years ago, finishing twice in the Premier League.

Lijnders believes Klopp deserves all of these Liverpool successes and has spoken out about the German after being named FIFA's best coach of the year.

“It's a great compliment to our structure. For our owners from the beginning to trust Jurgen with a six year agreement. It helps with confidence, to build the team, "Lijnders said.
"Great compliment to our team, because without success individual awards will never come. Certainly a great compliment to Jurgen himself. I'm really proud. That says a lot. "

"He is not just the face of the team, he is the face of the club and not many foreign managers in another country have made the impact he has made."

"One example I always say is that Cruyff in Barca had an impact on what is not just about the present but also about the future."
"Klopp created a real identity about how we play, the way he wants to play, and that can last for a long time," the Liverpool assistant coach concluded.
